Stories of the Sea, Myths and Men among the Waves of Cilento
The book collects tales of men who made the sea their way of life: fishermen, sailors, dreamers, and adventurers who tied their existence to the marine horizon. Real and imaginary characters, halfway between the innocence of Pinocchio and the visionary madness of Don Quixote, united by the same irresistible attraction to the open sea.
But these waters also preserve far more ancient stories. Cilento is a land of myths: every promontory, inlet, and rock bears the name of a hero, a deity, or a legendary creature. Sailing here means following the same routes as Aeneas and Ulysses and passing by places where sirens once sang and where the gods decided the fate of men.
